Davis Oil traces its roots back to 1926, when J. Earl Davis founded the company under the name Davis Coal & Oil.
What began as a family-run business supplying high-quality coal and oil to local communities soon became a trusted name in energy. We operated under the original name until the late 1940s, when the coal division was sold, allowing us to focus exclusively on oil. With this shift, the company officially rebranded itself as Davis Oil, a name synonymous with reliability and quality.
In the mid-1950s, leadership passed to Richard Walsh, the husband of Earl’s daughter Jane. Under Richard’s stewardship, Davis Oil expanded its services and reach, strengthening its reputation for dependability and customer care. Richard led the company until 1989, when the torch was passed to the next generation of the Davis family.
We expanded our services in 2023, adding propane to our offerings, and we became Davis Oil & Propane.
Since then, Davis Oil & Propane has continued to flourish, staying true to our core values of quality fuels and exceptional service. After nearly a century, Davis Oil & Propane remains a trusted provider in Keene, Peterborough and nearby Southwest New Hampshire towns, evolving with the times while honoring the principles on which we built the business.
